POLICE in Coventry will be present at the Zimbabwean election rally on Saturday 29 March 2008.
They are asking all attendees to be aware of their surroundings, to be considerate to the people that live and work in the area and to also be mindful of their own safety at the planned event tomorrow.
The rally is taking place at Speakers' Corner, which is situated on the corner of Little Park Street and Earl Street in the city centre. It will start at 10.30am and finish at 12 noon.
Over 200 people are expected to take part in the rally on Saturday.
Officers from the Stoke Heath Neighbourhood team in Coventry will be policing the duration of the rally to ensure the safety of those taking part.
There is a planned fund raising event at the end of the rally in the Stoke Heath Community Centre on Valley Road.
Officers will be at the fund raising event and will be giving out generic crime prevention advice and community information.
Sergeant Julie Harrison, from Stoney Stanton Road police station said: "West Midlands Police recognises the right to peaceful protest but asks people coming to Coventry on Saturday for the event to be respectful of their surroundings and the communities that live in them.
"Our intention is to facilitate the organisation's peaceful rally to offer reassurance for those on the rally and to minimise disruption to those who live and work in the Stoke Heath area of Coventry."

They dont want to go bac because they dont want to die, quick, or slow by hunger.
They are raising funds to feed their friends and family back home, help out with asylum claims and prepare for when all the money and gifts dry up after the Command Centre has decided Mugabe has won by 57% and he goes back to driving around in his motorcade and keeps all the maize until the next election.
