MDC conditions are senseless, minister

Thu, 08 May 2008 00:03:00 +0000

ZIMBABWE’S deputy information minister has dismissed the Movement for Democratic Change-Tsvangirai's presidential election run-off conditions as ‘senseless’.

The deputy minister, Bright Matonga, said the conditions which have been set by the opposition MDC-T party will not be respected by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC).

He said only ZEC has the constitutional right to conduct elections and set conditions for those elections in Zimbabwe.

"ZEC has constitutional mandate to run elections in the country without taking orders from either party”, said Matonga.
