THE opposition Movement for Democratic Change party (MDC-T) said on Sunday that regional peacekeepers will be needed for the presidential run-off election to ensure a peaceful voting process.
The MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai held talks late Saturday with Angola's President José Eduardo dos Santos where he encouraged the regional group Sadc to send the peacekeepers, MDC spokesman George Sibotshiwe said in an interview.
President dos Santos heads Sadc’s organ for political, defence and security cooperation.
"He received a warm reception, and ... they discussed the way forward," Sibotshiwe said, but declined to give further details about the closed door meeting.
Speaking to press in Angola, Tsvangirai said he was confident he will beat President Mugabe at the run-off election.
Tsvangirai, who was more conciliatory in his rhetoric than previously, also said he would provide the Zimbabwean leader with an honourable exit as “Robert Mugabe was the father of the nation.”
He said he will form a ‘healing government’ where democracy will be assured.
It is not clear what was agreed by the two leaders with regards to Tsvangirai’s call for peacekeepers; but President dos Santos said he will consult with regional leaders on the way forward.
President dos Santos also indicated that second round of presidential elections in Zimbabwe should occur in an environment of ‘security and tranquillity,’ according to Angolan press.

Yes there may have been some violence in Zim but your own supporters were responsible for some of it.
This idea of trying to subdivide SADC will not work. Why makes you think you will be so special to Dos Santos, Khama, Mwanawasa and Zuma? And why do you have to dictate to them what to do. Saka ivo mafuza iwe ndiwe wave nenjere manje?
