THE leader of the opposition MDC, Morgan Tsvangirai said Thursday that a government was needed in Zimbabwe to avert a catastrophic humanitarian crisis.
Speaking during a visit to Berlin (Germany) Tsvangirai said: "It's a very narrow opportunity for us and it is practically impossible to go beyond two months."
Tsvangirai said he fears that hunger and frustration, along with the continued dismantling of services such as schools and hospitals, could fuel unrest or violence if the all-inclusive Cabinet is not appointed.
"The possibility of chaos and the spontaneous reaction because people have nothing is very, very high every day that passes without this agreement being implemented," Tsvangirai told reporters.
This week, Tsvangirai visited Berlin and Paris to “consult” European governments and brief them on the status of the power-sharing talks in Zimbabwe.
The MDC leader is also reported to have asked for aid as food supplies in Zimbabwe are running short. According to estimates from the opposition party, 5.5 million people in Zimbabwe could be reliant on food aid by January.
German Deputy Foreign Minister Reinhard Silberberg met with Tsvangirai Thursday and pledged 500,000 euros ($625,000) to Zimbabwe.
French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner pledged support in Paris on Tuesday but no new commitments on aid.
Tsvangirai planned to fly from Germany to South Africa on Friday. It is not clear when the MDC leader will return to Zimbabwe.

MDC-T announced we are done and will not take part in any govt formation. I stated that Musanyeperwa. Hakuna nyaya he will be announcing soon that he is in the govt. Chamisa can you respond now to your leader's remarks.
Penga udzoke. Mr Prime Minister to be you have a mammoth task to talk to your friends. But wait and see. Brown will turn on you soon. You promised these guys lots of things. I don't think they will be impressed by what you said in France. How long did it take Mandela to be removed from the list or rather have the tag terrorist taken off his head.? A cobra snake is poisonous and has to be treated as such.
Pamberi ne matalks. Once we find our differences then we are done home and dry. We must tell the world what we want as ZIM not to be dictated. Thank you SADC. Isu nemi tichine basa guru.

The money will not come at the same speed as did the sanctions he begged for. Priority should be on securing the removal of the sanctions so that the country can secure international credit facilities and balance of payments as opposed to the pathetic foreign aid which comes with filthy poloitical strings that Morgan is so fond of. Someone should educate this pathetic buffoon.

Any short comings that any party will be resolved by people's support in the next election as a pay back for feeling for them in their darkest hour. Funny that Tsvangirai seems to imply that the spontaneous violence will be in his favour hence his part in further delaying the formation of the inclusive government. If Tsvangirai says it's ok let's do it, it will be done even today and what's the point of narrowing the 2 months window that he is now giving us? Is it coincidence that in 2 months MDC congress will also be looking for a new leader? If Mr Tsvangirai after selling Zimbabwe's bad news could only get about 3 weeks of Robinho's wages from Europe's biggest economy (Germany). Food for thought for Tsvangirai's MDC policy of relying on hand outs to resuscitate our economy. I sincerely hope the MDC executive fully appreciates the magnitude of the current global financial crisis so that they face up to the possibilty of well wishers not living up to their promises. (as if they were obliged).
