Mugabe attacks Tsvangirai, Western powers

Ranganai Chidemo

Thu, 11 Dec 2008 20:33:00 +0000

President Mugabe at the National Heroes Acre on Thursday 11 December, 2008.

PRESIDENT Robert Mugabe has accused Western powers of exploiting the cholera outbreak to try to force his departure and effect regime change in the country and blamed the opposition Movement for Democratic Change leader for spending time in the West rather than focussing on the power-sharing talks in the country.

Speaking at the National Heroes Acre at the burial of Zanu PF political Commissar and Minister Without Portfolio, Elliot Manyika on Thursday, President Mugabe Western governments had been plotting to use the outbreak of the disease as an excuse to try and intervene and oust him from power.

Manyika died in a car accident on Sunday and was declared a National Hero.

He said the cholera outbreak in the country had been “arrested” and there were no more excuses for British PM, Gordon Brown and French President, Nicholas Sarkozy to call for his ouster.

"I am happy to say our doctors are being assisted by others and the WHO [World Health Organization] and they have now arrested cholera," said President Mugabe.

"We are not a threat to international peace, not a threat to our region . . . Because of cholera Mr Brown wants military intervention, Sarkozy wants military intervention, Bush wants military intervention because of cholera.

"We need doctors, if there is cholera, we do not need soldiers from outside, we have enough of our own. So Mr Brown your thinking must undergo some medical correction," he added.

Mugabe dismissed Brown’s call for intervention in Zimbabwe and his ouster because of the cholera epidemic. He said it was a pretext for regime change in Zimbabwe.

"Shall we also say that [because] there is mad cow disease, there must be war, Britain must be invaded? Mr Brown, your head must go for some medical correction.”

He described Gordon Brown, the British prime minister, and George W. Bush, the US president, as "crooks" who were "guilty of deliberate lies in order to commit acts of aggression".

"We are a tiny country, a demographically small nation, yet we find ourselves on white lips that do not bear our colour or language, lips of governments and regimes with a cruel history of colonial occupation and oppression, of impression, dominance and blatant dehumanisation of our people. These lips do speak against Sadc and Africa. They are greedy, voracious and aggressive."

Mugabe described former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair and George Bush as the worst combination of leaders the world has ever witnessed. He accused them of lying about the presence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq in order to invade the country and exploit its oil and other resources.

He said Britain and the West should be more honest about their intentions in Zimbabwe.

"Let us, however, remember that we are not dealing with honest people. They want to find excuses for recolonising us. Why don’t they just say you Zimbabweans are sitting on rich resources. You can’t have those without us; we want to share with you. Whether you like it or not we also want to come. That would be much more honest."

A poster reads "Brown's cholera" -- the Government of Zimbabwe blames sanctions imposed by the West for the problems face in the country and says the outbreak of cholera was a result of deliberate illegal sanctions by the West.

‘TSVANGIRAI IS A PROSTITUTE’

President Mugabe criticized opposition Movement for Democratic Change leader Morgan Tsvangirai for not focussing on reaching a solution in Zimbabwe and traveling to Europe to seek Western support.

"We don't like it. We don't want that prostitution in politics. Let's settle things here."

"Today you are in Senegal, tomorrow you are in that country. Ndochii ichocho? (What is that?) Huhure ihwohwo! (That's prostitution!).”

President Mugabe also indicated that his party was prepared to go to fresh elections if that was what Zimbabweans wanted, but those elections will not be dictated by the West.

"We can go to an election if elections are desirable. The people are the deciders, and we will never reject their verdict. We have always accepted their verdict."

He reiterated that Zimbabwe is an independent country belonging to Zimbabweans who should teach the British this lesson.

The MDC leader indicated last night in an interview with the BBC that he will only return home if he was granted a passport. He has been travelling on an Emergency Travel Document since his passport ran out of pages last year.

Tsvangirai said: "I am working towards getting my passport. When I get it (I will return home)," Tsvangirai told the BBC on Wednesday.

He has not returned to Zimbabwe since travelling to South Africa for a November 9 regional summit which recommended that he joins President Robert Mugabe in a unity government.

Darlington, that is what I call a direct hit!

Zanu (PF) itself was the first to realise that the Old Man Bob has become Zimbabwe's biggest liability. Remember Tekere, Nzarayebani, Zvobgo, Mavhaire (of the famous statement One thing is very clear, the President must go, said in a Zanu (PF) parliament!), Margaret Dongo, The Young Turks, etc. All these correctly diagnosed the source of the mess we are in today way before we even imagined there would be MDC. But no, the Old Man would have none of it, all those who called for him to make way within Zanu (PF) have had their fair of the Old Man's wrath.

MDC just happens to be a recent voice outside Zanu (PF) to also say time up Old Man, and oh, they are paying heavily for saying the obvious. Why does the Old Man think that no one within or outside Zanu (PF) is fit enough to run Zimbabwe? Does he think he is a god of some sought? 28 years and still hungering for more, oh please give us a break!! Even those who support the Old Man's continued tenure at State House are sick in the head or are his wives as Dongo once said.

So Old Man, please go, let Tsvangirai, Mujuru, Mnangagwa (although his role as head of the de facto military Junta of post March 2008 terror and currently causing disappearances of critics of the Old Man makes him a highly suitable candidate for the Hague together with Perence Shiri, Gono and Chihuri) in or someone else have a go at steering the Zimbabwe ship, you had your chance, 28 YEARS!!

Old Man, take a walk around Zimbabwe and see your legacy, people are suffering like never before, no, not even during the true sanctions and war of Smith's era, that was child's play. What makes this more offensive is it is black on black, a government killing its own people, a revolution that now feeds on its own children, a vampire, the worst form of cannibalism. Your were my hero Old Man up to 1990 yes (though I was sickened with your activities in Matebeland and the Midlands in the early 1980s), but now I am ashamed to share the same citizenship and skin colour with you. Today I am traumatised by what I see. I am lucky not to be directly your victim, but I have nightmares because what I have witnessed. You surpass the directors of the most terrifying horror moves!

When you see blacks, whites, workers, the armed forces, police, civil servants, peasants, business people, churches, medical personnel, all ganging up on you, it is time to do some introspection. Surely they cannot all be messengers of the British and the Americans (otherwise you give these two countries godlike powers, to be able to control so many people)?

No, no, no, Old Man, you have caused a stink in Zimbabwe and Africa and it is reaching the heavens themselves. How I wish Sally and your mother were around, I am sure they would have talked sense to you and you would have acted in the best interests of Zimbabwe. Oh, how we miss those two ladies and their stabilising influence on you. Vanhu vakanaka havararame, kunosara… (The good don't live long, ) (Zex Manatsa's prophetic song).

Cry Zimbabwe!
Raped and pillaged by one of your own sons!!
The age old spirit of Nehanda where are you?
Sekuru Chamunika why the silence?
Mhondoro dzenyika makaitwa sei?
Njelele, Chinhoyi, makapingwa here?
Ko imi Mwari, dzivaGuru matikanganwa here?
Your children are suffering.
Arise and exact justice.
Arise and rid the country of a curse from hell itself.
Arise! Arise! Arise!
We know you are there,
We know you see us and we will be patient,
We will wait for the day you will say enough!
Let my children rest!
Arise! Arise! Arise!

Mr zwalaz do not get media head lines as facts of teh matter. BOBO did not say there was no cholera in Zim. By declaring it a national matter of urgency he acknowledged its presence and its severity. his comments, if you read carefuuly, meant that there was no cholera cause for war in Zimbabwe. He even acknowledged the presence of cholera by saying we was happy for the assistence we got from other states and the WHO. that is also acknowledging there is cholera in Zim

I think I was in the queue long ago for my passport to be renewed before MT and if he gets his before I get mine (assuming he too now also travels on a foreign passport like every other Zimbo I meet - how else is he getting around - he wouldnt want it to be know that he has a foreign passport eh?) I will be very bleak.
this dual citizenship is obviously for the select few then eh? time the cancellation of thatredundant law was made immediately with elections coming up.
I need my Zim passport - which I have already paid £85 for - even if it is only valid in Africa. I may be on a foreign passport now due to circumstances beyond my control, but I am African first and foremost, bcause I was born in Zimbabwe, and to be deprived of my identity in this manner is cruel.
I dont do politix but whoever brings back DUAL CITIZENSHIP gets my vote.
Its as simple as that. and I know thousands like me who will vote the same way.

Much as you might like to hate or love Uncle Bob, both sides of the divide are busy telling half truths about Zimbabwe, the country of my BLACK AFRICAN FOREFATHERS. Political mileage is gained by those half truths because for observers it becomes very difficult to prove which side is telling the actual truth. People tend to believe the side they are more aligned to and swallow hook, tackle and line so to speak because that's the the most convenient thing to do. Our things have never been ok right from the beginning of time. Successive British governments have been talking or threatening to invade Zimbabwe lately, a thing they never said since occupation in 1896. The British never stopped talking to Rhodesians although they have stopped talking to Zimbabwe. Technically, the British would relish another go at colonial rule in Zimbabwe or at least someone they can sway and make them dance their way. If you watch that youtube clip on George Galloway above, you can appreciate the complexities involved in world politics. Also, it is important to note that the western world is full of foundations that have their operating tenets rooted in the colonial past world order. Their very foundation is based on dictating the same warped world order full of inequalities. If you are from the former colonized part of the world, then you are not and never gonna be equal to your former white rulers. Sad, isn't it?

Is it a coincidence that when Rhodesia was financially on its knees because it was financing a war against its own people, Ian Smith agreed to throw in the towel and hand it over to a black man?

Now the USA is on its knees financially because it has been sending rockets to the moon, financing satellites and a war in the Middle East, Bush has virtually agreed to throw in the towel and hand it over to a black man. sure the Dems won the vote, but IF it didnt suit Bush to hand over to a black man do you honestly, honestly believe he wouldn't have have done everything to ensure the votes for the White House remained in the hands of the whites? he might have had a slander suit against him but it would have been worth every cent if the US wasn't going rapidly downhill.

so, just like everyone blames uMugabe for the state Zimbabwe is in, in future years to come do not be surprised when they blame Obama for the broken and downtrodden state the USA is heading towards.

Before the snactions were imposed in Mr Mugabe, he was actually rumoured to be in the Guiness Book of Records for having been the most travelled leader in the world. Why he was travelling, will only be a mystery to us.

Now that President Tsvangirai is travelling, Mugabe is envious and wishes that it could be him travelling. Tsvangirai is travelling for diplomatic reasons and his wife is not even in the spotlight for shopping sprees. Yet when Mugabe travelled, Grace would take the opportunity to spend the Zimbabwean taxpayer's monies.

Mugabe, please leave President Tsvangirai alone and cede power to the young man, who actually cares more about the people than you do. You are a very sad excuse for a human being.

Wont say more...

Western leaders shame to you effects of your targeted smart sanctions is taking its toll now. Yes you lie, scoff and brandish Zimbabwe as a failed state but the truth is SANCTIONS IN TWENTY FIRST CENTURY doesn't work Regime change will never ever happen to Zimbabwe.Even if there is military intervention in Zimbabwe Tsvangirai will never rule Zimbabwe. We are ready for you.Food for thought, what have achieved in Iraqi, Afghanstan, Somalia ,Sudan,Thailand and Belgium.Unlock sanctions hurting ordinary law abiding citizens. For record purposes detailed documents should be prepared for EU Leaders present at any sanctions forums for Hague Court of Justice ie. GENOCIDES.

Vanasekuru vazhinji vezera ravaMugabe vanowanzotukirira musha wose kusvikira madzisahwira vazopindira vachiti - Ngaisiye Matambo Gushungo. Chiregai muzukuru avigwe. Our President needs rest. He is very old. 85 years is not a joke. Other able bodied people should take over from him. His sentiments and ethics are correct although they will not help Zimbabwe. We all know our problems and the oldman is increasingly becoming the main one. I have heard Charamba trying to correct what he thinks Mugabe meant when he talked about cholera. Mr. Charamba, we all have eyes and ears. We perfectly understand both shona and english. There is no need for you to interprete. Is the oldman really the right man to be pointman? Why should we put our elderly on the frontline in times of battle? We should go in front and protect our elderly, our women and our children. We are wrong in not putting the succession issue on our agenda. To say the truth, IT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE. We should be people who are prepared to take over and move foward. If we block and hinder our path, tomorrow may not be rosy after all. Zimbabwe needs clear headed people in politics. The situation may look dire, but it is possible to get out of this mess and take our place in SADC, the AU and the World. Lets together identify the way forward and pool our efforts together. Let us work towards self sustainancy in agriculture. Let us ensure that we properly manage our mines, our wildlife, our available infrastructure must maintained. Above all, lets try to make friends and not maintain enemies. We are a sovereign state. No country is ever going to colonise us. Therefore lets concentrate on building our country and not prepare to defend ourselves against imaginary enemies. Let us keep our cities clean and lets have clean water for our citizens. Let us find ways to fill our hospitals with medicine and maintain proper hygiene standards. Like I said earlier, let us work for ourselves. LET US DISCUSS THE WAY FORWARD AND THE STARTING POINT IS THE SUCCESSION ISSUE.
