SAfrica confirms 300 million aid

Tue, 23 Dec 2008 22:08:00 +0000

SOUTH AFRICA has confirmed that it released humanitarian aid to the tune of 300 million rands (30 million dollars) to Zimbabwe “to circumvent a dire food security situation.

The media was awash last week with stories that South Africa had withheld aid to Zimbabwe until an all-inclusive Government was formed.

Thabo Masebe, a spokesman for South African President Kgalema Motlanthe, confirmed to the media that the aid package had been availed to Zimbabwe to fight the cholera and food crisis in the country.

“The aim is to provide urgent humanitarian assistance to circumvent a dire food security situation,” said Masebe adding that the package was made available to the Zimbabwean Government through the Southern African Development Community (Sadc).

Masebe said he was responding to “confusing reports in the media”.

“We are satisfied that the aid will reach the intended recipients in a non-partisan manner,” he added.

“South Africa remains committed to the establishment of an inclusive government".

Pretoria sent, among other items, maize and sorghum seed, fertilizer and fuel as part of the aid.

I received seed for 5 hectares, I have planted all of it and the germination is good. i am also buying my own with a view of increasing the hectarage. I cant stomach seeing Zimbabwean going hungry when in fact I can make a positive apolitical contribution. Producing food for Zimbabweans is an apolitical contribution that anyone with a piece of land should take seriously-be they policemen, soldiers, or ordinary wanainchi.

I just hope the rains will be favorable and Zimbabwe will turn the corner.

Let everyone who receives the seeds from our brothers in SADC do the necessary-plant the seed and make sure you do good weed management and fertilizer application. We will turn the corner soon.

Yes my friend, as a reward for the resent spate of abductions of unamarmed citizens who happen to to not share the same views with the the powers that be. By the way, the seed maize and fertilizer are already for sale on the black market meaning that most of the beneficiaries are not farmers or if they are, they are not serious farmers!

So now, there is no doubt where there SA government stands here>

Great News indeed. I am sure the enemies of the African people are very angry that a sister country is providing assistance to another sister country.

President Mugabe Africa love you for your heroic actions against the evil countries that for centuries only v1fed us hell.

Is this the seed that Mugabe has recently given to police?
