n/a • n/a Subject: accident Mon, 09 Mar 2009 21:16:00 • Sophie Shaw and Jon Swain writing in the times (8/03/09) state that:“The mysterious road accident that killed the wife of Morgan Tsvangirai, Zimbabwe’s prime minister, leaving him injured and emotionally devastated, was caused by an aid lorry on a mission funded by Britain’s international development department. The heavy Nissan truck, registered to the American embassy in Harare, was carrying life-saving drugs for HIV-Aids sufferers, officials revealed yesterday”.
Toitasei Toitasei has put forward some interesting observations. Events that have taken place since the new PM stated that the land reforms were irreversible and also requested the removal of restrictive measures are a cause for concern. Why were US sanctions immediately extended after these pronouncements ? Are there individuals, governments or organisations who wish to see the inclusive govt fail? Did the PM's announcement of the irreversability of land reforms not sit well with the backers of the MDC-T project? Is the accident perhaps a warning shot of what to expect when one is no longer seen to be on message?

Never mind Michell-O being a trend setter.
Dont you think that this is how we, as the female representatives of Zimbabwe, should follow her example and dress?
Not in tight jeans showing off our camel foot, and mini skirts and shorts showing off our ugly fat heavy knees. Those tight revealing clothes are meant only for females up to the age of 21, when she becomes of age, and from thereon should begin to act like a lady.

you should try thinking before you leap into the unknown because acccording to The Herald The Ministry of Media, Information and Publicity said the PM’s vehicle was sideswiped by the Usaid Nissan truck, registration number 81TCE128, near Mhondoro turn-off. The registration number is one of those allocated to the American Embassy technical support staff vehicles.
IF it was a black American driving will they say it happened because he is used to drivng on the wrong side of the road? Was he supposed to kill himself as well in the crash so there were no questions afterwards? Why was he asleep? Was he drugged up to the eyeballs? Where is he now? Hiding in the American embassy? Flown home already? or did he leg it through the bush to a waiting pickup car?
Our mourning nation and our bereaved PM and his family need answers now, Bernardo, not evil insinuations.
Toitasei Toitasei • toitasei@yahoo.com Subject: WHO WANTS TO KILL ZIM PM (TSVANGIRAI) Sat, 07 Mar 2009 15:30:49 • I would like to convey my deepest condolonces to the Tsvangirai Family for the sudden and untimely death of one of our Zimbabwean Mother. Untimely in that she passed away at a time when our inclusive gov't is still very fragile with rampant suspcion among the parties and people.
It has come to be the norm in Zim that when a high ranking official is involved in some nasty or unusual happenings, fingers are quickly pointed. I remember the Air Marshal Shiri shooting incident, fingers were pointed at MDC-T, although later suggestions to the effect that it was ZANU PF trying to cleanse itself in succession issues were also raised.
Now lets have an independent analysis of the accident that robbed our nation of OUR MOTHER. Assuming that it was not a genuine accident, who could have wanted our PM Tsvangirai dead? For if we are to go with this assumption, it is obvious that the target was the PM not wife. I will look at individuals one by one, countries and groupings.
(1) President Mugabe: May be, but i believe that if Mugabe wanted the PM dead , he should have done that long back when Tsvangson was still a small boy. To kill the PM now will be so obvious to the whole world. The truth is at the moment Tsvangirai is the best thing that could ever happened to Mugabe for he gave him a breathing space. Mugabe can't afford to kill Tsvangirai now for he is a moderate person compared to some hawks in the MDC-T party.
(2) USA and UK: Yes Tsvangirai was their creation and why should they want him dead? The question, he was created for a purpose, did he complete the task he was given? Answer NO. The 2 countries are known to discard their creations when they disobey them or no longer of any use e.g Saddam. Tsvangirai was not to enter the inclusive gov't, the situation was suppose to deteriorate to the extend that people were going to rise against the ZANU PF gpv't and hence blood shed leading to military intervention. This would have left the 2 countries in charge of Zim's resources which BOB is trying to protect to the detriment of the country. The truck that rammed into the PM's car belongs to USA. The driver of the truck was hired by the British. Ok that 's fine, but with the way UK hates ZANU PF, would they hire a ZANU PF card carrying driver and pay him in British pounds/US$? Would they hire a driver without vetting him? I wonder, because they are very thorough. Tsvangirai disobeyed his masters and therefore should be killed. Remember this is just a theory.
(3) Service Chiefs: Yes the motive is there, ofcourse they said they will not salute Tsvangirai ooh wait a moment was it Tsvangirai alone or with other people like him. If they kill him obviously they will boast that they kept to their word. Oh yes if he happens to win the next coming elections he may want to see them jailed for the purported human rights abuse etc. But killing Tsvangirai is not killing MDC-T, some will still come from the party as long as the Inclusive gov't is in existence and they will also need to be saluted. I think the Service Chiefs would rather kill BOB for betraying them than the PM or kill both, may be they are doing it stage by stage.
(4) Tendai Biti: Why would he do that? He is an ambitious young man, they say he is power hungry, may be cannot wait any longer. If the PM is to die, he is likely to step in the PM and President of the party shoes. Do u think Thokozane Khupe will stand a chance? I doubt. He was also against the inclusive gov't and at one time wanted to cause a split in the party. Is believed to be heavily supported by the whites in the party and beyond. Could he have connived with USA/UK to do the killing so that he carries on with the original plan of the 2 countries when they created MDC?
I am not accussing anyone for the accident but i am merely trying to make people see things from differnt perpectives and to be fair in their finger pointing. There could be other theories out there but these are mine. For I do not know what really happened, i only hope that the investigating teams will be up to the task and be very objective. Think about it.
Motormouth! • n/a Subject: n/a Sat, 07 Mar 2009 15:25:16 • My condolences to PM Tsvangirai and all members of his family on the sad loss of their loved one. I hope he finds the strength and courage to continue working together with others in the Inclusive govt after mourning the death of his wife and after a period of rest. The PM must not be sold red herrings by anti-Zimbabwe evil people who are claiming that this was an attempted assassination. If it was, since when has the govt of Zimbabwe hired Americans to do its so-called ''dirty work'' seeing that Obama still finds the presence of President Mugabe as our Head of State quite offensive to American interests and renewed sanctions on our country by a year? ! However, it is sad to note that were it not for sanctions, the govt's attempt to dualise this road a few years ago would have lessened the accident toll on it. It is this road which was aptly described by one journalist as ''a thread snaking its way from Harare to Masvingo until it gets to Beitbridge which also happens to be busiest road and economic lifeline of the country''. It is also needs pointing out that the driver of the car that killed our PM's wife works for an American aid agency, the same America bent on stifling economic progress in the country and hence to those conspiracy theorists against the present political set up in Zimbabwe, since when have the Americans acted in collusion with the Zimbabwean authorities on anything? Zimbabwe can actually accuse the Americans of the act of attempted assassination of the PM as they (the Americans and British) were not happy at the failure of their regime change project and may want to prop up Dumiso Dabenqwa and his tribal political party as a new source of anti-Zimbabwe destabilisation project!

The west is trying its every best to destabilize this unity government, even if it means civil war. Why else the sanctions are still in place?

07/03/2009 09:45 - (SA)
Washington - The truck involved in the car crash that killed the wife of Zimbabwe Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai belonged to a contractor working for the US and British governments, ABC News said on Friday quoting unnamed US officials.
The truck, which had a USAID insignia on it, was purchased by US government funds and its driver was hired by a British development agency, the report said.
USAID stands for the US Agency for International Development.
While on a routine delivery route, the truck apparently swerved into ongoing traffic and sideswpied the car the Tsvangirais were driving in, causing it to overturn several times, they added.
The officials said the truck has been impounded by authorities in Zimbabwe and its driver placed under arrest.
Susan Tsvangirai was killed on Friday and her husband was hurt in the accident that happened as they headed to their hometown in Buhera district.
The prime minister was taken to private hospital and is in a stable condition, Zimbabwe Finance Minister Tendai Biti told reporters after visiting him.

Co-Minister of police is moving very slowly. He is still under 500 blankets. You are a former police what is the problem? See what your performance has done to your party. You are happy now?

The way the haulage trucks move without care and the fact that the road is so narrow and raised, its aterrible road that one . i drove once going to masvingo, at night its even a night mare , plese the dualisation of the raod or just a slight expansion by 1/2 a mtre on either side will save lives.
she fails to be part of the new dispensation , cant benefit from the fruits of a ten year struggle with her husband.
this will make tsvangirai a very tough man and he might turm into another Mugabe --handiende - coz he has lost all, he might want to die at the helm as well. he needs to guard against this , the background of person determine his future , this hash reality can realy have psychiatric consequencies to his faculties . i hope there is no PF hand in this tragedy.

Accidents in our country have always been appalling and at an unacceptable rate. Every year more that 100 people die from road accidents at or around the Christmas/New year period.
It appears Zimbabwe's accident casualty rate resembles that of a country at war. It is unfortunate that as a nation, we are failing to protect ourselves from some of the accidents which are preventable.
Harare- Beatrice- Masvingo Road has always recorded to biggest number of fatalities, especially the area around Beatrice.
The reason why that particular road is dangerous is due to the absence of a road shoulder which may proved some escape space.
I would also like to recognise and appreciate Robert Mugabe's concilliatory gesture in paying Mr. Tsvangirai a bedside visit.
Nova, Edinburgh • na Subject: SPEED KILLS Sat, 07 Mar 2009 09:11:49 • We are reminded that SPEED KILLS everyday here in the UK, but its just another advert until it hits us personally as this has done. Its a serious reality check for every Zimbabwean now.
Driving in Zimbabwe with a forged licence is, I am led to believe, now par for the course. How long had this truck driver had his licence? Was it legal? Was he speeding? What was his big hurry that he could not slow down for oncoming traffic. Our questions are endless.
On the other hand, how many other accidents have occurred at that precise spot? Was it a dangerous bend well know to the Police? Was he talking on a cellphone? Was he sober? Our endless questions are now too late. My answer is one - an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.
IF he is responsible for the death of our PMs precious wife and mother of SIX children, he deserves to hang! Nothing less. Make an example of him to get the message home that we will not tolerate dangerous driving in Zimbabwe.
Whoever is in charge of our roads and driving licences - please can you now get together for once and for all and sort these two related items out. You are new in your jobs - you vowed to make a difference - this is your chance!
Many have died on Zimbabwe roads, some have lived to tell the tale. Either way, sadly it is a very real problem for us all, and this has brought it home in the most devastating way.
SPEED KILLS.
