PRIME MINISTER Morgan Tsvangirai was Saturday reportedly flown to Botswana for medical treatment, shortly after he left Harare Avenues Clinic where he was receiving treatment a day after a car crash that killed his wife. The MDC-T party spokesman, Nelson Chamisa confirmed that Tsvangirai had been flown to neighbouring Botswana, but was not sure when he would be back. "He was flown this evening to Botswana, right now
his well-being is top priority. I do not know when he will be back, he will undergo a check-up. But he
is out of danger now," added Chamisa. The spokesman added: "The Prime Minister was, in consultation amongst relevant parties — the party, the family and Government, but in particular the family and the party — flown out of the country for further medical examination and attention just to make sure that we have exercised due diligence. "We are not leaving any medical stone unturned in terms of his medical health. The crash happened as Tsvangirai and his wife Susan, 50, were travelling from Harare to their rural hometown of Buhera, where the prime minister was due to speak at a rally. His wife died at the scene. The Prime Minister’s brother, Casper Tsvangirai, officially announced Mrs Tsvangirai’s death yesterday. He said: "The Prime Minister of the Republic of Zimbabwe and MDC president Mr Morgan Tsvangirai, his wife Susan, a security detail and a driver were involved in an accident yesterday 6 March 2009 at around 1600 hours along the Harare-Masvingo road about 100km south of Harare. "Mr Tsvangirai was set to address an MDC rally today 7 March 2009 at Murambinda Growth Point in Buhera, his rural home area. "We are sad to announce the tragic passing away of Mrs Susan Nyaradzo Tsvangirai due to injuries sustained in the accident. She was pronounced dead on arrival at Beatrice Hospital." "In consultation with the party and Government, funeral arrangements will be announced in due course," added the Prime Minister’s brother. CRASH INVESTIGATION Story continues below The accident truckThe MDC-T party says it will launch its own investigation. Although Tsvangirai is said to have refused state security during party business, MDC-T party secretary general and finance minister Tendai Biti, said that a police escort might have prevented the accident. "Police are making their own investigation, we are also making our own," Biti said, adding about the escort: "The authorities could have avoided this omission." Meanwhile, Britain's Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) said Saturday that the truck was owned by a joint US-British aid project that delivers HIV/AIDS drugs. The FCO on Saturday said the although it had received reports that the truck driver, 35 year old Chinoona Mwanda, was not asleep, the incident seemed like it was an accident. An MDC-T spokesman said on Friday that the driver of the truck "appeared to be sleeping". President Robert Mugabe and his wife Grace visited Tsvangirai in hospital on Friday evening and later sent a letter of condolence also released to reporters. "We were all celebrating this major development (the unity government) when tragedy struck. It's a sad occurrence indeed," said President Mugabe. BURIAL ARRANGEMENTS Chamisa said although funeral arrangements were still to be finalised, there were indications that Mrs Tsvangirai would be buried in Buhera.

It's encouraging to engage with people who look at the bigger picture beyond settling political scores. I also agree that editor you need to take a leading role in enforcing a new culture of civilised engagement. If we are to be taken seriously as a legitimate mouthpiece of decent and civilised zimbabweans then we ought to shape up or ship out as one writer once suggested. How can someone who claims to love Zimbabwe not care about the image that we present through our engagement?

Tich, I agree with you 100%, these people (Tisu Vatongi, Omugabe, Motormouth, etc.) thrive on chaos, in horror movies they are vampires who live on the blood of others.
People may have differences with Mugabe but I have yet to hear him celebrate the death of a human being as these excuses for life are doing. Read his statement on Susan's death, the president must be ashamed that some of these maniacs who claim to be his supporters have such vile dispositions.
These people represent everything that is anti-African, un-African for they make the world laugh at us and say see how these Africans treat each other, how do they differ from beasts of the wild? (for I am sure if they had access to the body of the deceased they would feast on it).
I pray that people of the world accept that each community has sick people like these and they do not represent the characters of Africans in general.
And to the publishers of this e-paper, what moral standards do you have, what is acceptable freedom of expression and what goes beyond the limits to you? You are aiding and condoning lunatics who celebrate the death of innocent people (let one anyone say what wrong this woman ever did). Are you not aware that in Rwanda, media people are being held to account for their contribution to the genocide their by acting as mediums fro the transmission of hate messages. Have you know mercy for Zimbabwe which has suffered enough and where the leaders, in spite of their immense differences are trying to rebuild the country/ What do you hope to achieve by publishing such revolting content?
The people will remember vaMurombedzi ...
May God and our ancestors have mercy on you all, for surely they cannot be proud of this!

Tich • N/A Subject: I feel sorry for you Mon, 09 Mar 2009 13:45:45 • I really feel sory for people like Omgabe and Tisu Vatongi and others who are writing all this nonsense. Your day of judgement is coming and surely on that day you will wish you had known that God is real and He is a God of wrath. Your comments are pathetic, disrespectful, filthy and evil. I pray God have mercy on you people. Death knows no master. Our culture teaches us that in times of death we have to respect the dead no matter how much we hated or disliked them. Why do you just vomit words as if you are imortal. What speaks in you infact is not you but a demon that needs to be exorcised. Please let us be reasonable, Whether it is Mugabe,Tsvangirai, Mujuru, Munangagwa or whoever dies we have to respect them. They are dead and they are gone. You and me a following and who knows it might be soon. What every noble Zimbabwean should be doing at this moment is to encourage all Zimbabweans to be united and focus on rebuilding the nation. Kings come and go and when they go they carry not their palaces. However unit stays forever especially when preached and passed from one generation to another, something we have to do in Zimbabwe at this point. We need healing as a nation, we need God as a nation no matter how much we may differ. Be careful what you say for surely you shall be judged by your words.
I also urge the media to play a leading role in healing the nation. Please editors hear my words, you have the power to build and to destroy. When all is said and done what shall you say at the end about Zimbabwe? Did you do your jenalism to buid or to destroy? May God grant you wisdom. I wish at this point every media could not publish any comment that ignites division. Any comment that attacks Mugabe or Tsvangirai in a non costructive way should not be published. Why can't people share their ideas on what they want to see the inclusive government doing. We all have a part to play in building Zimbabwe.
May God bless Zimbabwe.
Motormouth! • N/a Subject: N/a Mon, 09 Mar 2009 13:02:51 • This medical jaunt to Botswana for treatment is testament to how the so-called targeted sanctions have devastated our economy to the extent that our hospitals are no longer competent enough to treat a mere headache such as the one our PM has suffered! Still the sanctions are in force and the PM is nowhere near to calling for their removal! He should do so in memory of his wife who has become a statistic of the ruinous sanctions he was happy to call for and applaud the likes of Howard in Australia for applying against Zimbabwe.
NA. • NA Subject: WHY USAID NOT WORKING? Sun, 08 Mar 2009 17:19:45 • the reason our PM had to go to Botswana is cos of sanctions crippling our medical situation - if we were a first world country with first world medical doctors and equipment he could have remained in Zimbabwe.
if the us and uk were not paying our own qualified nurses such high wages in their own countries and we could support them ourselves they would be here at home to look after their own, including our PM.
But the USAid were not bringing in anything of the sort. and Obama has stipulated that sanctions must remain for another year. so anyone who in desperaste need of medical attention must get to Botswana - if they can afford to go there.
why we got USAID if its not working ?
Tisu Vatongi • tisu@hotmail.com Subject: Coward on The Run Sun, 08 Mar 2009 15:55:30 • Tsvangson never fails to disappoint.
He has just lost a wife, his children are not even back in Zim to mourn their mother and visit him from their nests in Australia, Canada and South Africa, and he decides literally walk out of hospital and to go and rest in Botswana, and then he plans to come back in time for the beloved wife's funeral in Buhera on wednesday........
Poor judgement, poor politics, poor man, Mr MRTsvangson
Tisu Vatongi • tisu@hotmail.com Subject: Sanctions Sun, 08 Mar 2009 12:43:23 • After THE USA owned truck killed Morgan Tsvangson's wife and damaged Tsvangson's head and neck (maybe his brain as well - assuming he has some), it is ironic he has now been flown to a USA military hospital in Botswana ....Will the Americans finish the job this time?
melusi • melunkomo@yahoo.com Subject: Safe at last... Sun, 08 Mar 2009 12:09:14 • This comes as good news because Tsvangirayi will be safe outside Zimbabwe at the moment..This will give him time to recover physically and time to reflect on next move. Wishing you all the best Prime Minister!
