PRIME MINISTER Morgan Tsvangirai's eldest son has heaped praises on President Robert Mugabe after he delivered a speech at his mother's funeral on Wednesday.

Edwin Tsvangirai delivered a speech at a memorial held for his mother, Mrs Susan Tsvangirai who died in a car accident on Friday.

Addressing thousands of mourners who paid their respects to his mother Tuesday at a Harare stadium, Edwin said “I want to thank his excellency the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe for the kind words that changed my understanding of him."

He also urged his father, Prime Minister Tsvangirai to look ahead to the work of rebuilding Zimbabwe.

"Our path is to grieve and heal, so we can prepare you for taking the nation forward," Edwin said.

President Mugabe told the mourners he was saddened by the death of Mrs Tsvangirai, and that he hoped "Morgan will remain strong".

The president said all Zimbabweans should support prime minister Tsvangirai at this very difficult time.

"“This is a difficult moment for our colleague. He has lost a partner and we must all rally to support him and lessen his burden,” President Mugabe said.

“To our supporters, we want to say violence should stop. That’s what (Mrs) Tsvangirai would have wanted, for us to co-exist peacefully. We have just started a new life after years of fighting each other and insulting each other. We have said let’s give peace and harmony a chance and work together.”

He assured the Tsvangirai family, and the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) formations, that “we are mourning with you, our hearts are with you”. He went on: “This issue of politics has been affecting our lives and families badly. People don’t know the troubles and dirty wars that we fight.”

Prime Minister Tsvangirai uttered one sentence during the church service: “Let us celebrate her existence as God’s gift to me and us.” Several times during the service, Tsvangirai was unable to restrain his tears.

A Western diplomat was quoted by Reuters news agency saying: “Mugabe’s gesture is remarkable — there really seems to be a sign of genuine sincerity and a willingness to work with the MDC.

I wish all those who listen to President Mugabe would appreciate the way Tsvangirai's son has done. President Mugabe is a nationalist. I think if other Zimbabweans can judge for themselves then they will judge better.

All Zim Patriots already know well the heart of this virtuous, courageous and wise leader of Africans.
That is why those in the know, unreservedly call him Magnanimous Mugabe, African Hero without an equal.

Those who would relentlessly sow the sinful seeds of 'divide and dominate' among Africans, may delude a few unthinking Africans to hate fellow Africans.
However, the bulk of Africans know by now that even though the Rule of Law must be uphold for the Self-determination, peace and tranquility and integrity of Zimbabwe, the Rule of Law will NEVER be upheld on the basis of hatred for fellow Africans.

In the end, Zim Patriots seek to restore the tranquility and happiness that existed among Africans prior to the criminal invasions and colonization.

Long live Magnanimous Mugabe to continue instilling wisdom in the hearts and minds of Zim Patriots, and in the hearts of Africans in general.

“I want to thank his excellency the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe for the kind words that changed my understanding of him. Hmm hardly qualifies as heaped praises. All the same the Tsvangirai family has shown so much strength of character and moral maturity rarely seen and lacking in many who will remain nameless. My thoughts and prayers are with them at this sad time. We can only hope that Mr Mugabe's conciliatory tone is sincere as we have heard this type of talk from him a thousand times before and he goes on to do the opposite. We can only live and hope.

Hey! I am amazed with the shallow analyses of the submissions above. Honestly, attending a funeral and saying nice words doesn't change the fact that Mugabe is a monster. Records and facts are there to prove for themselves. Lets not be blinded by a single comment clustered with pretense before we even know the real enemy behind the demise of our lovely mother. A monister will always be a monister. Bye!

Well a saying goes Kushata Kwezvimwe, Kunaka Kwezvimwe. Do not get me wrong i was not happy with the death of MAI TSVANGIRAI, for no sane person should be. The death of the PM's wife might prove to be that spark that was needed to ignite the everlasting flame of trust between our leaders. I call it a flame because where there is flame (light) suspicion disappears, unlike in the dark where you do not see what your adversary is doing and hence can only suspect and guess. The death might prove to be a blessing in disguise for the Zimbabweans. I am convinced that it has brought Mugabe and Tsvangirai closer together. If it was not a genuine accident then the enemy is going to be very disappointed, instead of widening the gap and causing chaos his deeds can actually do the opposite i.e. closing the gap and bringing harmony among the Zim people. I strongly edge those of us who still holds grudges, who are against the inclusive gov't, those who still want to continue with hate, those who still want to be selfish and those who still think that Zim is theirs alone to think again and stop such evil thought and genuinely unite with others to build our country. Revenge can only lead to more revenge for it becomes a cycle. I also would like to edge the powers that be that the protection of our VIP's should be taken seriously, actually it must be a serious offence to refuse state protection. I say so because wants one becomes a public figure entrusted with the secrets of a state and lives of the nation, he/she becomes state property that should not be damaged because it is a valuable state asset. I would like to thank AMAI TSVANGIRAI very much in anticipation of the blessing in disguise and hope she will not disappoint me.

Edwin Tsvangirai has now seen it for himself, the moment he has had time to listen to the President, has changed his perception of the President.

President Robert Mugabe is not the monster, the west want every one to see in him. That is why all this propaganda in hostile western media, it is meant to brainwash our lot, and turn against each other with swords.
With their propaganda machinery on overdrive, they made lots of us, the likes of one Tererai Maripakwenda, what a disgrace, often shown on BBC these days, strongly believe that Zanu Pf can win a popular vote without rigging.

Obviously one's perception of Zimbabwean politics, Zanu Pf, MDC, President Mugabe, Prime Minister Tsvangirai will normally be wrong if their source of information is the very hostile western media BBC, CNN, AL-JABBC, The Telegraph, Daily Mail, The Sun etc.

It is very true that President Mugabe was very much against what he believed the MDC stood for. That was the actual difference between the two. That should not stop them grieving together in times of personal and national tragedies.

Welcome to the truth. Some of us have always known that Mugabe is praiseworthy. I suppose, each at their own pace, but as we all know, the good guys always win in the end.

Edwin Tsvangirai, you are a potential leader....if not a leader already!

I wonder who this Western diplomat is. To the neutral and true revolutionaries I think President Mugabe has not been fighting individuals in the opposition but what he thought the opposition stood for. It is just a difference in opinion and ideology. The Western saw it fit to come in having seen a loop hole but that hole has since been plugged.

They are a bitter lot today and it will take them time to recover from the shock.

To our PM, we are with you as the President said. I was so touched and dropped a tear after reading the conversation between Tsvangirai, the President and VP Mujuru at the Avenues Clinic. I am sure the Zim enemies did not take it kindly to see the President holding the PM's hand comforting him. Worse still the picture of Mai Mujuru and Mai Mugabe crying uncontrollably. This was an insult to the obvious enemies and they will not take it lightly and to them its unacceptable.

All they want is a Somalia in Zimbabwe, an Afghan in Zimbabwe, a DRC in Zimbabwe and a Sudan in Zimbabwe the list is endless.I salute this great man. He has made mistakes just like every human being but you don't have to be brain washed to understand him.I like this shona saying-wanyangira yaona

REST IN PEACE MAI SUSAN Tsvangirai.
