Zimbabwe First Lady, Grace Mugabe
Previous - Next

PRESIDENT Mugabe is a great leader who has stood firm in the face of adversity and has resisted Western machinations on the land issue, says Zimbabwe's First Lady Grace Mugabe.

Speaking to people at Masakadza Business Centre in Nemangwe, Gokwe North, the First Lady said Zimbabweans should emulate President Mugabe who is a true and honest revolutionary leader with people at heart.

"He showed brevity and confronted the Western powers head on. He stood resolutely and unshaken defending our sovereignty.

"We are not in this country by coincidence. It is by God’s design. This is our country, our land and we need to guard it jealously," she said.

Echoing a call made by President Mugabe at a service to honour the late Mrs Susan Tsvangirai, the Prime Minister's wife, the First Lady called on all Zimbabweans across the political divide to shun violence and foster a spirit of reconciliation across the racial and political divide.

"Let us preach the gospel of peace in the country. Peace should prevail countrywide," she said.

"We are preaching the healing message and want to forget the past while we forgive each other as we take the nation forward united as Zimbabweans. Violence will not take us anywhere but retards development."

Home Affairs co-Ministers, Kembo Mohadi and Giles Mutsekwa on Wednesday also urged Zimbabweans to shun violence and said the full weight of the law will descend upon all the perpetrators of violence.

"We would like to appeal to the parties to desist from such acts of violence and we believe it is the responsibility of the political parties to tell their supporters not to engage in violence," Mohadi said.

Mohadi said the nation needs to heal from previous divisions based on political lines.

The First Lady also said all corrupt officials should be brought to book as their actions militate against development in the country.

"Wealth is not for the leadership, the economy should not be in the hands of President Mugabe alone.

"There is no smoke without fire. Investigations should be done. We have to ask ourselves about all these things we hear about corruption. Corruption has killed the country."

Mrs Mugabe also explained that the formation of the inclusive Government did not amount to the erosion of President Mugabe's power.

She denied claims that President Mugabe had surrendered power to Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, leader of the MDC-T party.

She said President Mugabe was still the Head of State and Government.

Dear Sir/mam, I think that the people ofZimbabwe is going through the new wave of slavery and manipulation by the powers that be and big business. When you have god send leaders like Robert Mugabe who has a strong backbone to stand up against injustice and get hell from the press and the media at large, you know that Mugabe is doing the right thing. Remember Jesus, a black man who stood up against the Roman empire, was never given a fair trial either and yes, they mudered him for standing up for poor blacks. Long live Robert Mugabea. Every mother should pray that god will bless them with a son like Mugabe who won't sell out but will carry out the desire of our ancesrors, to see a strong free Africa that will be in the best interest of all Africans at home and abroad. Long live Mugabe! All the love in the world with the help of almighty god. Fight on brother. Go and take some more farms, it's rightfully yous!

Mugabe Is In charge of Zimbabwe including in charge of STERP that was authored by Minister Biti.Anyone who thinks Mugabe is not in charge is day dreaming. How can he not be in charge if he can swear in some 70 or so Ministers and Deputies to assist him in turning around the eceonomy.

I agree with the contibutor who said leadership is inspiring. Bob has insipred us to undersyand that an empowered African is one who owns the factors of production-Land labour and Capital.

We have the land, we have the labour-did it occur to you all out there why we can not borrow from IMF and WB, its because if we are allowed to Borrow, BINGO-the economic equation for Zimbos will be complete. We will be able to mix Land, Labour and Capital plus our entrepreneurship and the leadership and rulings from President Mugabe and his inclusive government, Zim will be a major success in Africa.

They don't want that to happen, and its a pity Hugo did not read basic Economic. He would have understood that by giving some rulings to the IMF and World bank to veto any credit lines for Zimbabwe, the West was trying to distort the economic equation so that its incomplete and an answer would not be found.

Zimbabweans have some of the best brains under the sun.If we work together from accross the political divide, vana WOOD vachasara vari muma WOODS.

I hope our fellow African we loaned to them for the next four years will be able see light and lead not be led.

What an utter load of tosh. I would be promoting forgiveness and peace if I saw the pigeons coming home to roost too. I would also deflect the blame for corruption to the loyal but expendable members of Zanu, I would also be preaching forgive and forget because I felt it was getting too hot in the kitchen. I would be doing all this to keep myself safe and selfishly look after my own interests because that is all I care about. I would also want to keep my partner in power long enough to get me some more cash before I dash off to South America for political asylum. However, I would struggle to sleep for the guilt, the pictures of tortured innocents invading my peace of mind. I would always be looking over my shoulder for fear of my wrongs catching up with me. If I was lucky enough to dodge the authorities of this world until the end of my sad days, I wouldalso be aware that I shall rightfully burn in hell for all eternity for the trouble I have caused.

That is just my twisted logic though, I am sure that there is a much more innocent explination to all this and in reality, it has all been a bit of a misunderstanding.

GOING BY WHAT IS HAPPENING IN SOMALIA, WE WILL PROBABLY NEXT HAVE BIN LADEN TO CONTEND WITH BECAUSE ACTUALLY ITS ALL ABOUT ISLAM V CHRISTIANITY
AND I WOULD RTHER BE A MUSLIM THAN HEAR THE CELIBIT ICON OF THE CATHOLIC WORLD RABBITTING ON ABOUT WHETHER I SHOULD USE A CONDOM OR NOT, WHEN THE ONLY THING HE KNOWS ABOUT SEX IS HOW TO SPELL THAT EVIL EVIL WORD WE MUST ALL ABSTAIN FROM.

It is encouraging to notice the sequence of events as they unfold. The stance that Mr and Mrs Mugabe have taken is good. This will definetely lead to some change and healing of sorts. It is good to hear these take a lead in condeming violence. We need peace to develop. It does not matter who has the power. This is not a government of power, this is a GNU tasked to foaster development by wroking across political lines. This is meant to be Zimbabwe at work.

Hugo you are very right. What come into my mind is that, when the run off of the presidential candidate was in process there was so much violence unleashed on the people of Zimbabwe, NOONE ever came out like Mai Mugabe is doing and publicly spoke against this violence being perpetrated.Even tho everyone agrees that land needed to be distributed equally among all Zimbabweans but unleasing of violence on white farmers by the same people was still violence, and are they mentioning that? How many farms has Grace violently seized? This issue of healing will never work, what healing do you want me to have when my dad was killed by these same people who preach healing, I might be able to forgive but I will never forget, no healing comes to it. These guys are now feeling comfortable because MDC was armtwisted by external forces to join this government for trying to make the a better life for stuggling Zimbabweans. This GNU is never going to work, I feel new free and fair elections will resolve these issues, where we have one President and his deputy with a cabinet formed by MPs voted by the people in office.

What is your point Hugo, really. I mean what are you trying to say? That Mugabe is not inspiring, that LEADERS are not RULERS?! That Mugabe is not in charge or what?
So according to you who is in charge? The person who is in charge in Zim is the one to whom everybody in government reports ultimately, one who has power to dismiss, and so on. That person is RG Mugabe, whether you like it or not!

It still boggles the mind that these people like Grace like Mugabe and other Zanu Pf idiots still mantain Mugabe is still Head of State and Gov. What exactly is Mugabe in charge of in a country where nothing is working. Surely Mugabe is in charge of the thousands of people that have succumbed to cholera and the millions of children that are roaming the streets trying to eke a living.

No wonder this regime does not appreciate that in modern politics gone are the days of RULING which Zanu PF is doing but LEADERSHIP is now the name and norm of the game.

Leaders are inspiring and Mugabe is certainly not. No wonder words like ARREST (remember Mugabe alleging that he had arrested cholera) are the functional words in Zanu PF's vocabulary. They can't even find suitable words even in their propaganda! Its all about arrest and degrees in violence!

I have said the truth so this comment will be lucky to be published!
