PRIME Minister Morgan Tsvangirai and his Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) have called off their boycott of the inclusive Government with President Robert Mugabe.

The suspension of their "disengagement" comes only a week after President Mugabe indicated that they will return to Government.

The Zanu PF party had described the boycott as "cheap propaganda" and "all sound and fury, signifying nothing".

The MDC-T had been on strike since October 16 over the indictment of that party's treasurer and financier, Roy Bennett, on weapons charges.

PM Tsvangirai said his party will review their position after 30 days adding that they expected President Mugabe to deal with "the pertinent issues we are concerned about".

"We have suspended our disengagement from the GPA (Global Political Agreement) with immediate effect and we will give President Robert Mugabe 30 days to implement the agreement on the pertinent issues we are concerned about," he said.

He did not mention what course of action MDC-T would take if the issues he wanted addressed were not dealt with to his party's satisfaction at the expiry of the 30 days.

The prime minister was speaking after a regional Southern African Development Community (Sadc) summit in Maputo, Mozambique's capital.

Four heads of state from the regional grouping met to review the general political situation in the DRC, Lesotho, Madagascar and Zimbabwe.

PM Tsvangirai, deputy prime ministers Arthur Mutambara and Thokozani Khupe also attended together with negotiators to the all-party talks.

The Sadc heads had earlier indicated that the Zimbabwean problems were not insurmountable and the parties to the Global Political Agreement could resolve these issues internally.

Opening the summit, President Armando Guebuza, who chairs the Organ on Politics, Defence and Security (the Troika), said Zanu PF and the two MDC formations had shown commitment to resolving their differences and maintaining political stability for the country’s economic recovery.

He said indications were the parties "share more common views than disagreements".

President Guebuza said they should work on strengthening areas of convergence for the benefit of Zimbabweans and Southern Africa.

The Mozambican leader made similar observations on the political situation in Lesotho.

The summit's final communique urged the Zimbabwe parties to hold talks "with immediate effect within 15 days (and) not beyond 30 days" that would include all outstanding issues related to the implementation of the unity pact.

"The parties should not allow the situation to deteriorate any further," it said.

I agree with n/a who has stated that the MDC-T is nothing but a revival of Ian Smith's Rhodesian Front. This view is supported by the composition of MDC-T leaders and supporters. The top echelons of MDC-T party is made up of former Selous Scouts (Roy Bennett-MDC-T treasurer), ex mercenary (Eddie Cross-senior policy advisor MDC-T) and former Smith's soldiers such as Giles Mutsekwa (MDC-T co- Home Affairs minister, MDC-T). The original MDC had also as a member David Coltart (now Education minister for MDC-M) who was a member of the notorius British South Africa police (BSAP). Most of the leadership of MDC-T is further derived from people who served in Ian Smith's regiments such as the Rhodesian African Rifles, Rhodesian Light Infantry, Selous Scouts, BSAP, Pfumo Revanhu and others who fought Zanla/Zipra liberation forces in order to prevent the majority of Zimbabweans from having the basic right to vote and to enjoy a semblance of democracy. Tsvangirai's own antics during the liberation war are well documented. He ran away from the liberation struggle citing that he had a family to look after. Is it not odd that Tsvangirai when called to fight for his country and make the ultimate sacrifice refused to do so but is now the champion of democracy? Is it also not surprising then that the same people who fought for Ian Smith to deny the introduction of democracy in Zimbabwe are now the champions of democracy today? The disengagement of MDC-T from the inclusive govt on the account of one man Roy Bennett has illustrated where power actually lies within MDC-T. Roy Bennett is the king maker in MDC-T because he holds the purse strings. He who pays the piper plays the tune.
It is quite obvious that Roy Bennett's interests are not about democracy but how he and his mates can get back the farms that were taken over during the land reforms. Bennett must have instructed Tsvangirai that in return for his financial support, he (Bennett) wanted the deputy Minister of Agriculture post as a reward. This explains why Tsvangirai is hell-bent on the swearing in of Bennett who clearly represents an unacceptable face of a Rhodie to millions of black Zimbabweans. Eddie Cross let the cat out of the bag when he stated that the statement on the GPA that the land reforms were non-reversible needed revisiting. It has been about land reforms and geo-political dominance all along. Democracy!what democracy?

I am not going to point at anybody about these disagreements people tend to have about genuinity of Mugabe,Tsvangirai, Zanu Pf and Mdc. Questionable or not questionable their characters, but what have they all done to save the country from its current state of affairs. What have they done to bring back bread in each household. Good people have been given back their land, but why are they running away from those pieces of land they were given.Lets ask one thing, Do you agree with Mugabe that is the only best Leader in Zimbabwe and the world at large, do you really agree with him? because i would like to think thats what he thinks, and thats what some of my brothers also think. A simple question why does he ( Mgbe) trust nobody in the world, why is he afraid of trusting other people? Does he he trust even the creator of the universe, worse still with his own son.Mind you mr writer with your100% support behind him, he will shoot if you get a spelling wrong about good things he has done for you and your wife.

MDC-T is nothing but a re-incarnation of Ian Smith's Rhodesian Front. This party has been bankrolled by unrepetant Rhodies, white commercial farmers, billionaires and politicians from the West, Tsvangirai /MDC-T are just a front for these vested interests which includes US foreign policy interests and this explains Tsvangirai's actions. Tsvangirai is not his own person. He is being controlled like Karzai in Afghanistan. This is no change we believe in. Can someone advise Tsvangirai that the only game in town is the inclusive govt. Tsvangirai should now desist from his childish tantrums because nobody takes any notice of them now. The guy's credibility has been severely dented and is now in tatters.

I have said it before and I will say it again: A pull out that never was, never is and will never be. It was just a story told by a fool full of sound and fury signifying absolutely nothing.

What exactly has the boycot achieved for the puppet project apart from massaging Bennett's self-serving colonial ego?

So the puppets needed SADC badly to save face and this explains all the spin on the otherwise scheduled SADC Troika's GPA review meeting.

Penga Udzoke. Talk of procrastinations and dithering!

Morgan Tsvangirari is the perfect example of an Uncle Tom; he dosen't care about Zimbabwe but about his rich white backers. As a black American, I am ashamed that so many black Zimbabweans cannot see through him and what he is trying to do to their country. I support Mugabe because he is right, the land in Zimbabwe is for black Africans. I know Mugabe has made mistakes in the implementation and management of the land reform program but I strongly support him for taking back the land. He is a true leader that can not be bought; he wants black Zimbabweans to own the means of production which is there land. Mugabe is right, land is sacred and Zimbabweans must fight to keep their land.
The MDC-T cannot be trusted to fulfill leadership positions in Zimbabwe. As a black person who has never stepped foot on African soil, I can see straight through the MDC-T. Their main job is to sow division among the people of Zimbabwe so that the land can return to the white famers and so that rich western countries can then go in and carve up Zimbabwe's minerals. We must not let this happen. I will do my part to tell the world that Mugabe is a hero despite what the newspapers in the America say about him. Mugabe is seen as a dictator for standing up for his people but I know this is a lie. He is for the enrichment of his people and against domination by the West. This is why Mugabe is being villified in the West.
I pray for Zimbabwe and I pray that Zimbabweans will never betray the thousands of Zimbabweans who died fighting for freedom. Mugabe is trying his best and blacks worldwide must stand up and support him. If the West tries to take out Mugabe, my five year old son will pick up the torch and carry the banner of freedom and shout from the top of lungs to the bottom of his feet Zimbabwe will never be a colongy again. Long live President Mugabe, black American who has never visited my ancestoral home,
Todd Kidd, Louisiana.

Thank you very much. President Guebuza, BUT!
As you must well know, Zim Patriots have shown themselves well capable of handling Zim's internal affairs.

The lost leaders of those who are Mentally Deluded by Colonialists (MDC) have been complaining like a bunch of old women. That is their lot; but it has nothing to do with the future of Zimbabwe.

As you must know, President Guebuza, entertaining treasonous traitors without the request and consent of the Zimbabwean President can have no significant bearing on the internal affairs of Zimbabwe.

Tsvangirai is back again with his ridiculous ultimatums. The disengagement from the inclusive govt was a resounding flop. This Tsvangirai has no leadership qualities at all. He changes his tune according to what he thinks the audience wants to hear. This man will go down in the history of politics as the biggest ditherer and flip -flopper the world has ever seen. Time to bow out of Zimbabwean politics Mr Tsvangirai. Your credibility with the Zimbabwean electorate has sunk to zero. These ill-thought and half-baked stunts by Tsvangirai and his MDC-T party means that no one is ever going to take notice of what they say or do.Who on earth wants to be governed by such an unprincipled, greedy and corrupt party that is only interested in protecting western but not Zimbabwe interests? Thanks for the inclusive govt that has shown the MDC-T party and its leadership in its true colours. This is not a democratic party at all.
