A COMMISSION set up to investigate Kenya’s controversial presidential elections has revealed some flaws in voting patterns which could alter the results obtained by the two candidates.
The Kriegler commission, probing into events leading to last year's disputed presidential election results, has been hearing presentations from top Electoral Commission of Kenya officers.
The presentations have raised the possibility of presidential figures at constituency level being changed at the national tallying centre.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) led by Raila Odinga disputed the tallying which gave President Kibaki victory in the plebiscite.
More than 1,200 people were killed and over 350,000 displaced during the violence which erupted soon after the announcement of the disputed results, according to The Nation newspaper of Kenya. Peace was restored when President Kibaki and Odinga signed a power-sharing deal on February 28.
There are currently more than 30 parliamentary election petitions pending before the High Court.
The Kriegler commission is investigating the vote counting and tallying for the entire election among other key issues.
