Author on Obama deported from Kenya

Thu, 09 Oct 2008 22:35:00 +0000

THE US presidential candidate Barack Obama, whose paternal grandparents originate from Kenya, has been highly criticised in a book written by Jerome Corsi.

Accordingly, Carlos Maluta, a senior Kenyan Immigration Official has divulged to AP news agency, that Corsi was on Tuesday collected from his hotel and deported for not having the necessary work permit, or visa. Joseph Mumira, head of Criminal Investigations at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, has confirmed that before Corsi was deported he was briefly detained at Immigration Headquarters.

It is common knowledge that the book ““The Obama Nation – Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality,” contains information spreading false rumours and false claims against Barack Obama.

One of the false claims in another book he co-authored, “Unfit for Command”, is that Barack Obama contributed US$1m to Raila Odinga during his recent presidential campaign. Raila Odinga, from the same Luo community as Mr Obama’s paternal family, is now Kenya’s Prime Minister. Mr Obama Snr is a highly popular figure in Kenya.

Recently Mr Corsi further claimed in a press release that he would “expose deep secret ties between the US Democratic Presidential Candidate Senator Barack Obama and a section of the Kenyan government leaders”. In addition, on a website “Fight the Smears”, Corsi listed further false claims in relation to Kenya.

Another false rumour in the book that he co-authored, Jerome Corsi claims that Barack Obama was raised as a Muslim, and Jerome Corsi accuses Mr Obama of supporting an alleged plot to convert Kenya into an Islamic state.

It is believed that that book maligned the Democratic Party candidate in 2004 thus contributing to John Kerry’s defeat by President George Bush.
