Africa cup of nations count down

*** Senegal captain El Hadji Diouf believes a tight defence is the key to his side's chances of winning their first Africa Cup of Nations.

The Teranga Lions have conceded plenty of goals in recent friendlies, only to be saved by their potent attack.

“We need to have the English mentality of trying to keep clean sheets,” the Bolton Wanderers star told BBC Sport. “If we have a clean sheet, we will win games because we score two goals in every game,” Diouf added.

*** African-football legend Abedi ‘Pele’ Ayew has tipped his native Ghana to win the Africa Cup of Nations.

The three-times African Player of the Year believes the Black Stars, as hosts of the event, can win despite the loss of injured captain Stephen Appiah.

“Ghana can go all the way because they are playing in front of their home fans and they have a strong squad.

“Losing Appiah will be overcome as Michael Essien and Sulley Muntari are both great midfielders,” Ayew said.

• I saw so many lousy defense so far.
I hope Cameroon will make it but unfortunately Eto'o will not do it by himself. Ivory Coast can do great with Drogba. However Egyptian are coming strong again this year.
