ALEXANDRA BURKE has won the 2008 UK X Factor, as we predicted. (see photo gallery)
Over 8 million votes were cast in the final show. It was a 2nd chance for Alexandra, 20 – who was the bookies' favourite. She was eliminated from the 2005 X Factor by Louis Walsh before the live shows. Alex was determined to live her dream and she sang her heart out to win the grand finale, beating finalist rivals, JLS. She was mentored by the gorgeous Cheryl Cole. JLS made up of Aston Merrygold, 20, Marvin Humes, 23, Jonathan Benton (JB) Gill, 22, and Oritsé Williams, 22, had thousands of female supporters who made the final a close call. Even Simon Cowell, who is usually very good at predicting the winner could not call the result. JLS caused a stampede outside Fairfield Halls in Croydon, Surrey on Monday. Alexandra, whose mother is the legendary Soul II Soul lead singer, Melissa (Burke) Bell, will now scoop the £1million record deal and release a version of Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah'. She is now on an incredible journey to claim the UK's Christmas No 1 slot. JLS’s performance of 'Hallelujah' could not match Alexandra infectious performance. She sang her heart out to claim the No 1 Spot. The single is available for download from midnight tonite. Her performance of the song 'Listen' with Beyonce Knowles will always be a highlight of this and subsequent shows (watch here - courtesy of ZW Tube). The current series made history as two Black finalists were left in the competition.

Her vocals were incredible even way back then, and I knew she was gonna be entertaining us for a long time to come. Throughout her acts, she churned out impeccable, consistent and a great pleasure to watch. Her final perfomance of Hallelujah after she had been anounced the winner was emotionally charged and very passionate. It made my eyes water, if you see what I mean.
Well done, Alex! You very special and a great inspiration to a lot of people, young and old!

I love this music but didn't know what the words were about.... K sent me the following information, which is really very interesting.... I think you might find it interesting as well.... Please read all words and explanation below and let me know what you think .... Hallelujah .... winning song of X-factor.
Well I heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don’t really care for music, do ya?
Well it goes like this, the fourth, the fifth
The minor fall and the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Well your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew ya
She tied you to her kitchen chair
And she broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Well maybe there’s a God above
But all I’ve ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who’d out drew ya
And it’s not a cry that you hear at night
It’s not somebody who’s seen the light
It’s a cold and it’s a broken hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Alex`s duet with Beyonce was out of this world!
She deserved to win, she`s incredible!! But my boyz were gutted- I hope JLS will introduce a fashion line, perhaps that might console my grieving sons.
