Immigrant victims of domestic violence protected by law  DOMESTIC violence is a crime and it should be treated as such. There are laws to protect the victims, but many are unaware of their existence. Immigration rules offer assistance to such victims, and an alternative to staying in an abuse relationship for the sake of gaining a leave to remain in the country.
